JOHNSON David David passed away at home under hospice care on January 15, 2008, after battling cancer for some time. Dave was born on December 30, 1954, to Paul and Nancy (Nelson) Johnson in St. Paul, Minnesota. They soon moved to Waterloo, Iowa where he was raised. He graduated from East Waterloo High in 1973. That June, he enlisted in the USAF and served for six years, primarily as an air-ground radio operator. He pursued a biology degree at the College of Southern Idaho and finished at the University of Northern Iowa. His graduate studies were done at Bowling Green State University in aquatic ecology. His working life included restaurants, science, teaching, and computers which provided him the opportunity to live many places, spending significant time in Colorado, Turkey, California, Idaho, Utah, Nevada, and Texas. He met Kristi Sprow, the love of his life, in 1990 at BGSU, married her in 1992, and settled in northwest Ohio. He was a home brewer and won several awards. He'll be missed by family, his many friends and those he mentored. He was preceded in death by his parents and is survived by his wife, Kristi; brother, Bradley in Heyburn, Idaho and sister, Joni; and her husband, Thomas Harrison in Las Cruces, New Mexico. A memorial service will be held at the Bersticker-Scott Funeral Home (3453 Heatherdowns Blvd.), on Saturday, the 16th of February at 1 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Northwest Ohio Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
